On May 12, Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South team members gathered to celebrate National Hospital Week by giving back to their community. In partnership with the Burleson Animal Shelter and Castrol Lube Express of Burleson, Texas Health Huguley hosted a National Hospital Week team appreciation event. This included lunch, games and a chance to play with local puppies that were looking for their forever home. With monetary donations from Castrol Lube Express, the Burleson Animal Shelter was able to waive all adoption costs for team members.

Out of several puppies onsite, Daisy, a two-month-old dachshund-lab mix and Walter, a two-year-old shih tzu mix found their new homes in the arms of two Texas Health Huguley team members. Jennifer, a member of the orthopedics unit, will be surprising her kids with sweet Daisy. Morteza, a member of the warehouse team will be taking Walter home to his family who has been waiting for the right furry family member.

“We are thankful for the opportunity to be able to support our community for Hospital Week. There is no better way to celebrate our team members than allowing them the opportunity to give back to the wonderful community we serve,” said Penny Johnson, president and CEO of Texas Health Huguley.

In addition to plenty of love and new homes, the Burleson Animal Shelter was able to take back an abundance of toys, food, bedding and other donations to help care for all animals in need.

After all that the community has given to Texas Health Huguley over the past two years, this was a small way to show appreciation and give back.
