What:The 7th annual Tri My Best Triathlon will take place at the Bob Bolen Safety Complex in Fort Worth on Saturday, July 9. Forty-five children ranging in age from 3 to 18 will participate in the event, which is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to noon. The triathlon gives participants with various physical and cognitive disabilities the chance to bike, swim and run/walk/wheel through the course, alongside a buddy who is assigned to each child as an assistant. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the triathlon was held virtually for the past two years. This year’s  in-person event will also include a safety fair hosted by the Fort Worth Fire Department and The Y Water Safety Team. The Tri My Best Triathlon is hosted by Cook Children’s Rehabilitation Services and the Fort Worth Fire Department. It is generously funded by Cook Children’s Employee’s Care program and Klein Tools.
About the event:Participants are organized by their endurance and assistance needs. Groups rotate through the bike, swim and run/wheel/walk events with an award ceremony to finish. Buddies are assigned to all participants to help and cheer them on. There are dedicated family observation areas at each event.
