Fort Worth-based leadership development company Simple Leadership Strategies (SLS) announced the addition of Christie Eckler to their team in the role of Chief Strategy Officer – a new position created to develop business, expand curricula, and open new markets. Eckler, a renowned and respected Texas nonprofit executive and an Assistant Professor in graduate-level social work at UTA, brings a lifetime of leadership know-how and impressive academic chops to SLS.
Recognized as 2022’s “Woman of Distinction” by the Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains at their recent annual awards luncheon, Eckler has a long history of civic engagement and service.
In fact, it was her fundraising/development work at Tarrant County Samaritan Housing, and Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT) that introduced Eckler to SLS CEO TD Smyers.
Completing his first year with the company, Smyers sees the new role – and Eckler’s stepping into it – as a milestone for the growing leadership development company.
“I became acquainted with Christie’s impressive leadership and sterling reputation while we
were both nonprofit executives – colleagues working independently to bring about better
futures for people throughout North Texas. Now rowing the same boat, I look forward to
working alongside Christie as we introduce stronger leadership into a new set of regional
organizations and larger swath of our society.”
Eckler is excited about the opportunity as well.
“I am humbled and honored to be part of the Simple Leadership Strategies team, working to foster more transformational leaders in our society at a time when there is such a need and call for authentic service-driven leaders across all organizations and industries.” she states, “the Why of SLS and the company’s core values resonate with me at the highest level as a leader and community advocate.”
John Wright, who founded Simple Leadership Strategies, over 18 years ago and continues to serve as the company’s President, had this to say about Eckler’s joining the team:
“I met Christie Eckler over six years ago at Rotary and was immediately impressed with her
character and talent. I invited her to attend our Transformational Leader-Manager Workshop.
She told me although she had been studying leadership for years, the SLS approach “really
resonated” with her. I am excited and grateful to have her join TD and me as our Chief Strategy Officer. I predict her contribution to our brand promise and delivery will be exceptional!”
Eckler’s strategy role with SLS is fractional, allowing her the flexibility to continue operating CME Consulting, the company she started in 2013.
