The 2022 4A State Champion in Men’s Cross Country is Fort Worth ISD and Diamond Hill- Jarvis junior Angel Sanchez! After finishing in fourth place in the UIL State Championship as a sophomore last year, Sanchez achieved his goal of winning a Cross Country State Championship by finishing with a time of 21:57.5. Edgar Rodriguez, also from Diamond Hill- Jarvis, finished in the top half of the field of 149 runners with a time of 23:59.7. 

Sanchez advanced to the UIL State Championship race by winning the Region 1 meet Oct. 25. This is the second state championship Sanchez has won in 2022, winning the 4A Men’s 1600-meter race back in May. Sanchez also finished second in the Men’s 3200-meter race in May. Sanchez’s gold and silver medals last spring marked the first time Diamond Hill- Jarvis placed at the UIL State Track Championships.
