MedStar’s medics on bicycles are partnering with Pedego Fort Worth to add premium electric bikes to their fleet. The Pedego Avenue will ‘empower’ members of MedStar’s Bicycle Emergency Response Team (BERT) to respond to medical emergencies faster and will reduce medic fatigue.

MedStar’s BERT team members are utilized for large special events such as organized runs and parades. They also serve Fort Worth’s West 7th Entertainment District, where large crowds of visitors create significant challenges providing rapid response to emergency service calls.

“These new Pedego bikes are a valuable complement to our BERT fleet,” explains MedStar’s CEO, Ken Simpson. “They will enable our bike medics to provide coverage to larger areas and help prevent medic fatigue, especially during the hot summers here in North Texas.”

The Pedego Avenue has a 500-watt motor, five levels of pedal assist, and a throttle for immediate acceleration. It can travel up to 20 miles per hour and get up to 56 assisted miles on a charge. Pedego batteries are made up of lithium-ion cells identical to those found in electric cars.

Pedego Fort Worth carries the full line of Pedego bike models. The family-owned business provides service, rentals, and electric bike tours of Fort Worth.
