I have much to be thankful for: family, friends, comfort, a roof over our heads, health. Today, however, I want to say how thankful I am for something that has made me appreciate those blessings even more: travel. I am so thankful that at this stage of my life, my husband and I have been able to travel and experience new places, new ideas, and new people. Traveling opens the world to us and opens our hearts and minds to the world.
This photo is of the courtyard at Frida Kahlo’s house in Coyoacán, a glorious neighborhood in Mexico City. Despite a difficult childhood, debilitating polio, and spending two years in bed, Frida Kahlo expressed herself through her art, through her surroundings, and through her enduring paintings and drawings. So grateful for her gifts to us and for being able to be there, in the setting that inspired her.
