Andrea Wright, Assistant Director over Fiscal & Administrative Services for the City’s Public Events Department (PED), has been reelected for a third term to the City of Fort Worth Employees Retirement Fund Board of Trustees. She also has been elected by the Board to serve as Vice Chair of the 13-member board overseeing a $2 billion mature fund.
Wright will continue to represent Place 4, Active General Employees Group D, a role she has held since first elected in 2018. She was elected to a second term in 2020. She chairs the Audit and Budget Committee and is a member of the Executive and Communications committees.
Active employees elect four representatives, retired members elect three representatives, and the remaining six trustees are appointed by City Council.
“I am honored to serve and continue to learn from others,” Wright said. “A third term allows me to gain more experience and serve as a Fiduciary to our Fund members.
Active General Employees Group D consists of the following departments: Aviation, Code Compliance, Economic Development, IT Solutions, Library, Neighborhood Services, Park & Recreation, Property Management, Public Events, Transportation and Public Works, and non-Civil Service Employees of the Fire Department. Place 4 is held by an active, vested employee in one of those above departments.
The Retirement Fund Board has 13 trustees who are responsible for overall investment decisions of the Fund and helping set actuarial assumptions. Trustees do not control changes to benefits, which are determined by the Fort Worth City Council.
As Assistant Director over PED’s Fiscal & Administrative Services for the City’s Public Events Department, Wright’s duties include managing five operating funds totaling more than $75 million. She also participates with the HLO, MLK, and Juneteenth committees and serves on the Fort Worth City Credit Union’s Nominating Committee.
In other volunteer roles, she is an active member of the National Forum of Black Public Administrators and serves on the organization’s Nominating Committee. She also serves as Treasurer of the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) Region 6, which represents 1,120 venue managers and professionals throughout Texas, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and the country of Mexico. She is a graduate of IAVM’s Venue Management School.
