After an entire career dedicated to early education, Angela M. Lampkin has joined Child Care Associates (CCA) as its new Head Start director.
Lampkin started her career in early learning and care in 1990 and has been charting a path of leadership in that space ever since.
“Angela’s reputation and commitment to early childhood education is nationally recognized and I am thrilled to have her join our CCA team,” CCA President and CEO Kara Waddell said. “She is an innovator, strategist and leader in early childhood education and will be a strong asset to our team as we continue to serve children and families across North Texas.”
A key contribution in Lampkin’s career includes her leadership of Chicago and Milwaukee Educare Schools, a nationally recognized model of quality early education launched by the Buffett Early Childhood Fund and Start Early.
Lampkin’s accomplishments further include earning multiple national accreditations through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and AdvanceEd and a Graduate Certificate Infant Studies from the prestigious Erikson Institute, Chicago, Illinois.
She was instrumental in starting a Milwaukee Parental Choice Program and under her leadership, the program was a key partner with Milwaukee Public Schools in the implementation of a Federal Early Reading First Grant.
Lampkin earned her Master of Science Education Leadership from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and her Bachelor of Science, Human Services at Judson University in Elgin, Illinois.
“I’m honored to join the dynamic leadership team at CCA,” said CCA’s new Head Start Director Angela M. Lampkin. “Having an opportunity to engage with a community that is making early childhood education a priority is inspiring and refreshing – I’m ready to get to work and serve our Tarrant County families.”
Lampkin served on the Wisconsin Child Care Administrator’s Association Board of Directors, the Milwaukee Child Care Alliance, the Young Star Advisory Committee, and the Milwaukee Area Technical College Advisory Committee.
