My mother’s family is from Cuba, so Día de los Muertos wasn’t a part of my childhood, but I’ve loved how the tradition has reframed my relationship with lost loved ones as an adult. Arts Fort Worth and Artes de la Rosa produced an awesome exhibition of work by local LatinX artists featuring a stunning ofrenda by the baker, historian and artist Raymundo Hernandez, and I was honored to have a place for my abuelos’ wedding photo on it. I’m so grateful to work at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center because of special moments like that. Plus, where else can you find a T-Rex bursting out of an oversized book?
