The day after taking office as a Tarrant Regional Water District board member, Charles “CB” Team officially announced his campaign to keep the seat.

Team was appointed to serve the remainder of Jim Lane’s term Jan. 17 after Lane died in late November. He will serve through May 6, when the seat comes up for election.

The commercial real estate broker and developer has previously led two unsuccessful campaigns for the water district board, in 2019 and 2021.

“Water is the most critical resource our community has and I commit to expanding its access, supply, and recreational opportunities,” Team said in his announcement. “I pledge to serve the taxpayers of the district with transparent and collaborative leadership and in an ethically and responsible way that makes sense today and for our future generations.”

Team is running for one of two at-large seats on the board, which has five seats. Voters select two candidates for the positions, and the top two vote getters win the seats. Board members serve four-year terms.

Team and Marty Leonard currently occupy the two seats up for election. Leonard has indicated her plans to retire this year after 17 years on the board. Candidates have until Feb. 17 to file for a place on the ballot.
