A fan bearer known as the ‘uncle,’ or the God of Smiles, leads the Hoa Dao Lion Dance team members at the Spring Blossom Festival on Jan. 15 at the Hương Đạo Temple, 4717 E. Rosedale St. (Cristian ArguetaSoto | Fort Worth Report)

I captured my favorite image of the week on Jan. 14

Thousands of people visited the Chùa Hương Đạo Buddhist temple from Jan. 13 – 15 to experience its Spring Blossom Festival.

The festival is part of the temple’s efforts to fundraise for its upcoming 14-acre expansion.

In this image, the Hoa Dao Lion Dance Team performs for a crowd on Jan. 14. The traditional dance is said to scare away evil from one’s home and bring luck around the Lunar New Year.

After kneeling and staying out of the crowd’s selfies and videos for 15 minutes, the dance began. The photo captures its beauty and its characters.

From the Spring Blossom Festival to the 2023 Real Estate Forecast presented by the Real Estate Council of Greater Fort Worth, our photojournalist at the Fort Worth Report captures the diversity of events through images of the week.
