I captured my favorite image of the week on Feb. 4.

Sadie Wampler gets emotional after she sells her Grand Champion Steer for $440,000 on Feb. 4. (Cristian ArguetaSoto | Fort Worth Report)

The atmosphere and rowdiness inside the John Justin Arena was indescribable — like something out of a movie. Gaps of relative quietness were abruptly interrupted by an auctioneer yelling bids.

On Feb. 4, Sadie Wampler cried after she sold her Grand Champion Steer Snoop Dog for $440,000.

In this image, you clearly see Wampler get emotional as she listens to an auctioneer yell higher and higher sell prices. The atmosphere and experience overwhelmed her.

The image shows how meaningful selling her steer was. The day before, Wampler won first place at the 2023 Junior Grand Champion.

I shot this image through a fence inside the John Justin Arena — behind me, bidders raised their prices while the auctioneer rapidly called them. Nothing special technically happened with this photo, but the emotion makes up for it.
