I captured my favorite image of the week on Feb. 7.
On one side of the studio, a mirror spanned the length of the room. On the other, a blacked-out wall. Inside, Amanda Fairweather and Riley Moyano, a married couple who are also dancers at the Texas Ballet Theater School, posed for the camera.
In this image, I tried to capture the connection between Fairweather and Moyano through symmetry for our Valentine’s Day feature story. In the middle of the room, a long steel bar used for stretching and practicing gave them the perfect canvas to show off their connection — the symmetry was there.
The image encompasses the couples’ love for each other. In my eyes, the highlights and shadows are balanced enough that you cannot make out their faces, but the emotion remains.
I shot this image with a high aperture, I think f-stop 4.5 at 1/250th of a second to capture their slow, elegant movement completely in focus.
From Texas Ballet Theater School dancers to the Report’s Candid Conversation on the Fort Worth Way, our photojournalist at the Fort Worth Report captures the diversity of events through images of the week.
