Troma Entertainment, the longest running independent film studio in North America,
continues its relationship with the Lone Star State by bringing its founder, Lloyd Kaufman, to North Texas at the end of February and Hill County in March.
As the President of Troma Entertainment and the creator of The Toxic Avenger, Lloyd
Kaufman is constantly touring the world. Recent events have included premieres of the latest Troma offerings, Divide & Conquer and Eating Miss Campbell, both films created by Troma fans who went on to create their own Troma movies! Lloyd Kaufman upholds the independent film dream and has inspired legions of filmmakers across Troma’s forty-nine year history.
Award winning North Texas film team, Little Spark Films, also joins Lloyd on this special
Texas Troma tour. Troma Now, the streaming platform from Troma, hosts several of their short films as well as independent films from around the world.
The Texas Tour begins in Dallas February 28 at 8:30pm, with a screening of Troma
classic Tromeo and Juliet, written by Head of DC Studios James Gunn. The screening will take place at the historic Texas Theatre, the premiere arthouse/repertory theatre in Dallas. Lloyd, The Toxic Avenger, and other Troma friends will be in attendance, with free autographs and photo ops all night long.
March 1 at 5:30PM in Fort Worth is Weird Wednesday, a monthly cult movie series and
vendor marketplace held at Southside Preservation Hall. Lloyd Kaufman will be a guest of honor at Weird Wednesday and will introduce and conduct a Q&A for his classic film Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead.
Lloyd will be at the University of North Texas March 2 conducting an informative
filmmaking master class to the film students there. This, unfortunately, is not a public event. But it’s worth mentioning because it speaks to Lloyd’s commitment to shepherd the next generation of filmmakers and pass down his many years of knowledge and wisdom.
March 3-5 Lloyd will attend the Cult Classic Convention in Bastrop, Texas, a three day
horror and cult movie convention in the Texas heartland. Lloyd will be on hand all three days for autographs and photo ops.
The evening of Friday March 3 brings Lloyd and the Troma Team to Austin for a Tromatic
Drag Tribute Show, featuring Bulimianne Rhapsody (star of Camp Wannakiki on OUTtv),
Louisianna Purchase (star of The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula on Shudder), and many other Austin area drag and burlesque performers. All of the performances will be Troma-themed, and the event is being DJed by Houston’s own PostModernSleaze. The event is at 11 pm on Friday March 3 at Valhalla.
Saturday March 4 at 7:30PM Lloyd will present his most recent film, #ShakespearesShitstorm, at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar. Lloyd will introduce the film, conduct a post-movie Q&A, and be on hand for free autographs and photo ops all night.
Troma Entertainment continues to champion independent film across the globe and
welcomes any and all interested in film. The 2023 Texas Troma Tour promises to be packed with wonderful tromatic events! Join us!
