Last night “Everything Everywhere All at Once” won big at the 95th Academy Awards taking home seven awards including Best Picture. Michelle Yeoh became the first Asian woman to win the Best Actress award, filmmakers Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan took home Oscars for Best Director and Best Writing (Original Screenplay), Ke Huy Quan took home the Best Supporting Actor award, making him only the second Asian actor to win in the category, and Jamie Lee Curtis won her first Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. “EEAAO” became the most-awarded Best Picture winner since “Slumdog Millionaire” which pulled off eight wins in 2008.

Brendan Fraser took home the Best Actor Academy Award for his performance in “The Whale” while thanking director Darren Aronofsky for reviving his career by throwing him a “creative lifeline.” It was a similar story for Ke Huy Quan who credits The Daniels for reviving his career. Both actors appeared together in the 1992 comedy “Encino Man” starring Pauly Shore.

Edward Berger’s gripping war drama “All Quiet on the Western Front” won four Oscars including Best International Feature, Best Score, Best Production Design and Best Cinematography. The Netflix film, an adaptation of the 1929 anti-war novel by Erich Maria Remarque, became Germany’s most successful film at the Academy Awards.

Other highlights from the glitzy ceremony included Sarah Polley taking home the Best Adapted Screenplay award for “Women Talking.” In the animated category, “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio” took the top honor, while the spirited song “Naatu Naatu” from the film “RRR” won the Best Original Song.
