Katie Maxon is a second grade teacher at Ridglea Hills Elementary School in Fort Worth ISD. She teaches math and science.
Maxon is a passionate and caring teacher, according to her colleagues. She has this incredible ability to form unique, individualized connections with every child in her classroom.
When it comes to her teaching style, there is no one size fits all approach. Even with all of the requirements that come with being a teacher in Fort Worth ISD, she takes the time to find the right way to help each child learn the various concepts she’s introducing.
Not only is she great with her students, she’s a great collaborator and partner in working with the parents of her students who may be struggling, either socially or academically. She truly treats every child as they’re one of her own.
“I can personally tell in the many conversations we’ve had about my daughter’s struggles this year that she goes home and spends time thinking of creative solutions to any of the hurdles we’ve experienced this year,” said Kelley Wooley, who nominated Maxon for teacher of the week.
“Miss Maxon is truly one of a kind and anyone who is lucky enough to have her as a student will be better off for it.”
