Fort Worth, Texas (April 6, 2023) – Camp Fire First Texas (CFFT) President/CEO Lauren Richard has announced her resignation. She has led the nonprofit since October 2020
At the March 23 board meeting, Anne Carvalho, Camp Fire board chairman, thanked Richard for her dedicated  leadership and work to modernize the 109-year-old nonprofit.Brian Miller, M.S., LPC, Camp Fire’s current vice president of outdoor and facilities, will take on the position of Interim President/CEO. The Camp Fire Board of Directors will soon open a search for a permanent replacement.
Miller began as the Council’s vice president of outdoor overseeing strategic direction and implementation of all programs at Camp El Tesoro in February 2018 and later his role was expanded to encompass facility oversight for the entire organization. He began his Camp Fire connection as an annual El Tesoro de la Vida grief camp volunteer in 1993. Previously, Brian worked in the role of a clinical services supervisor at Centene, and advanced through a number of leadership and clinical roles in his ten-year employment at MHMR of Tarrant
County. He holds a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Abilene Christian University and a Bachelor of Science from Texas Christian University. He is also a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas
“Lauren’s leadership and innovation have left Camp Fire First Texas in an excellent position to serve our community,” said Brian Miller. “We are making a difference in the lives of the children of in North Texas through our afterschool, camp, and early education mentoring programs, and I am honored to lead the organization during this transition.”
