Six student athletes in Fort Worth Country Day’s Class of 2023 have committed to play their chosen sports at Division I and III colleges and universities in the fall of 2023.
Caroline Grebe will play field hockey at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In addition to playing at FWCD, where she was named Southwest Preparatory Conference All-Conference Honorable Mention during both her freshman and junior years, Grebe competes on the Lone Star Field Hockey club team.
Jeremy Henderson will compete on the track & field team at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. At FWCD, Henderson runs the 100m, 200m, 400m, 4×100, and 4×400 relays, and is a talented long-jumper.
Connor Henry will play golf at the University of Oklahoma. Henry was the boys’ golf SPC champion in 2021, won the SPC Golf Championship individual title in 2022, and won the Legends Junior Tour 2022 Texas Cup Invitational.
Sutton Howard will compete on the track & field team at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. During her time at FWCD, she emerged as FWCD’s greatest thrower and one of the preeminent throwers in SPC history, being crowned the 2022 SPC champion in shot put and runner-up in discus.
Paxton Matthews will play baseball at Sewanee/The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. A versatile athlete, Matthews plays third base, catcher, and outfield.
Rachel Nelson will run track at Stanford University in Stanford, California. Nelson is a 13-time AAU and USA Track & Field All-American (100m, 200m, 400m), a five-time Texas SPC champion, and a three-time national champion. She is the only athlete in SPC history to win the 100m, 200m, and 400m in the same championship meet.
