FORTWORTH, TX. — Mag & May Apartments is announcing they commissioned
Eyecon Studios, a local multidisciplinary mural and design firm to create a brand-new large-scale mural on their building on West Magnolia Avenue in Fort Worth’s Near Southside Medical District.
The colorful new mural features the work of local artists Chris Arnold and Jeff Garrison who drew inspiration from Fort Worth’s history and the vibrant artist community to create a piece that reflects the energy and history of the Near Southside.
Mag & May is already an iconic area landmark with a colorful mural that was painted several years ago. However, the harsh Texas sun caused the original mural to fade.
“We wanted to create a new mural that would combine Fort Worth’s heritage as the city ‘Where the West Begins’ with the funky, artistic vibe of the Near Southside,” said Chris Arnold. “I hope that this piece will inspire people to see the beauty in their surroundings and to appreciate the power of public art.”
“We are thrilled to have this stunning mural on our building,” said the Management at Mag & May. “We believe that public art is an important part of our city’s culture and think of our building as a living canvas.””
Work on the mural will start in May 2023, beginning with stucco repair and a primer coat and then 5 story scaffolding will go up and work will begin on the exciting new mural artwork.
