White Settlement ISD students Jace Tatarian and Marcus Sullivan attended Education in Action’s Lone Star Leadership Academy Camps.
Nominated by educators, students are selected based on demonstrated leadership ability, academic success, and involvement in school and community activities.
Jace is a sixth grader at Tannahill Intermediate School, and Marcus is a seventh grader at Brewer Middle School.
The Lone Star Leadership Academy experience provides a leadership development opportunity for students to learn about Texas leaders and what it means to be from the Lone Star State. They complete problem-solving and decision-making simulations, exercise creativity, and practice presentation skills in leadership groups.
Through the Austin/San Antonio program, Marcus visited state legislative offices at the Capitol, the Supreme Court of Texas, bat watching on the Lone Star Riverboat and the Alamo.
During Dallas/Fort Worth program’s week-long camp, Jace visited the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District, Perot Museum, and the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza.
Professionals at the sites introduced students to a variety of unique careers.
