Parker Hiner, a sophomore at Boswell High School in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD, won Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker’s high school art competition.
The Fort Worth City Council recently honored Hiner during a meeting. Her artwork will be displayed outside the mayor’s office for the next year.
“I remember how I first started creating little crayon drawings in my bedroom,” Hiner said. “And now it has come to this where a painting of mine will be hanging outside the mayor’s office.”
Hiner is an AP art student at Boswell High. Her teacher is Dj Perera.
“To be explicitly recognized and acknowledged by the Mayor of Fort Worth is almost surreal. Mayor Parker’s congratulatory words are pivotal simply because they boost the morale and the entrepreneurial ambitions of talented young artists like Parker Hiner,” Perera said.
