Fort Worth Report Fellowship

The Fort Worth Report ‘s new paid summer fellowship provides aspiring journalists the opportunity to sharpen their reporting and multimedia skills and to learn with our exceptional news team.

We are looking for fellows who are ready to dive into daily news and enterprise coverage alongside our seasoned reporting staff. Ideal candidates will have experience in community journalism focused on the local topics of government, health, education, business, arts and culture, and changing demographics.

We don’t expect you to be an expert on all these topics. Show us your potential and desire to grow with our startup nonprofit news organization. Let us know whether you want to focus on telling stories through words, data or visuals. We have three positions available so we’re seeking a variety of skills.

Please submit a cover letter, resume and work samples to Managing Editor Thomas Martinez, and or submit materials here.

Freelance writers and photographers

Opportunity: We’re seeking freelance journalists to pitch us stories and photographs for publication in Fort Worth Report. We’re interested in stories that impact our local audiences and that fall under the general categories of government, business, education, arts & culture, health care, environment and civic engagement. We are not seeking commentary or opinion pieces. We are particularly interested in stories that are revelatory, data-driven, contextual and solutions-driven. All content is subject to editing and fact-checking prior to publication. Freelancers are not considered W2 eligible employees and are not eligible for benefits. Contracts will include a conflicts of interest statement and signing the SPJ Code of Ethics. Apply here.
