The Lone Star Film Festival and the Fort Worth Film Commission are pleased to announce Dallas native, actor Luke Wilson as the 2023 Bill Paxton Achievement in Film recipient at the Lone Star Film Festival Gala. The gala will be held Friday, November 10, 2023 at Hotel Drover. 

The award, named after Lone Star Film Festival co-founder and Fort Worth’s very own, Bill Paxton, celebrates actors, producers, writers, or directors, who continue to excite audiences with their risk-taking craft throughout their careers. Past Gala honorees have included Taylor Sheridan, LaMonica Garrett, Channing Godfrey Peoples, Ethan Hawke, Richard Linklater, Paul Schrader, Jeff Nichols, and countless others.

Native Texan, Luke Wilson has established himself as one of the most versatile actors of his generation with his indelible performances in broad comedies, thoughtful dramas, and provocative independent features. Wilson’s credits include Wes Anderson’s Bottle Rocket, Rushmore & The Royal Tenenbaums; Old School, Legally Blonde. 12 Mighty Orphans (filmed in Fort Worth) and the upcoming You Gotta Believe, the inspirational true story of the 2002 Westside Little League team from Fort Worth, Texas

“We are thrilled to honor Texan Luke Wilson with the  Bill Paxton Achievement in Film Award ,” said Chad Mathews, director of the Lone Star Film Society and Lone Star Film Festival. “Our Board of Directors wanted to recognize Wilson for all his work in the industry and in films shot in Fort Worth and throughout Texas.

The Fort worth Film Commission, a division of Visit Fort Worth, is partnering with Lone Star to produce the 2023 gala and festival.

“We are proud to partner with Lone Star Film Festival for the 7th year,” said Jessica Christopherson, vice president of marketing and film commissioner. “We are excited to welcome back Luke Wilson and visitors from all over the U.S. to Fort Worth for the festival and gala.” 

Individual seats to the gala are available for $750 each and tables start at $12,500. Proceeds of all sales go to the Johnny Langdon Film Education Initiative, which provides film education programs for adults as well as high school aged students interested in the art of cinema.
