Colorful outfits and bright personalities will shower Magnolia Green on June 15.

Joined by various vendors and nonprofits, members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community gather this weekend to celebrate the sixth annual Trinity Pride Fest.

Tyler Long, president and founder of Trinity Pride, started the festival in 2019 after hearing many members of the community ask for a place to celebrate Pride Month, a month of celebration that began in the wake of protests for LGBTQ+ rights outside the Stonewall Inn in 1969.

After the first festival, Trinity Pride never looked back. Long said he wants to create a festival that is intentional in embodying the Fort Worth community.

“Fort Worth people are friendlier, nicer and smiley-er,” Long said. “I want to be able to showcase the spaces where these communities are supported in Fort Worth.”

There are two things that everyone needs to bring when attending Trinity Pride Fest, Long said.

“A colorful outfit and a colorful attitude,” Long said with a laugh.

In addition to these two staples, Long harped on the importance of bringing sun protection and staying hydrated. He also emphasized the safety of festival goers.

“We have a partnership with the Fort Worth P.D. as our security, and we were very intentional about that. And what’s nice about the Green is we’re a block from the police station,” Long said.

Wandering Roots, the organizer of Trinity Pride Fest’s market for the past three years, will set up an area with local vendors and nonprofits serving the LGBTQ+ community, Long said.

“We want it to feel like a market where we support queer businesses or artists, and where people are able to purchase goods that they want,” Long said.

National artists will also take the stage for the first time at Trinity Pride Fest. Following opening acts by a few local artists and drag queens, singer and “American Idol” alum David Archuleta will headline the festival.

Long expects Trinity Pride Fest to host around 4,000 members between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Saturday.

“I feel like it’s going to create a really, really amazing, amazing experience,” Long said.
