Paycom employees presented a $50,000 check to members of the National Juneteenth Museum’s board Feb. 23 at Evans Plaza, where the museum is expected to open by June 19, 2025 – the Juneteenth holiday.
The funds raised by the human resources software company will support and fund the Juneteenth Museum’s mission as well as its sneak preview tour of its first exhibit.
“Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you,” said Gleniece Robinson, the board chair for the National Juneteenth Museum. “It is amazing and intentional on the part of Paycom to donate with so many employees contributing and to be able to get in on the ground of something that is so extraordinary and will have such an impact.”
Robinson emphasized the impact that the National Juneteenth Museum will have not only for the Historic Southside but for the city and the country.
“This is a National Juneteenth Museum,” Robinson said. “Not everybody gets a chance to say, ‘I was a part of something built from the ground up.’”
Paycom, an Oklahoma-based company with an office in Grapevine, raised the money through its employee giving program, which supports community organizations.
Past organizations supported through Paycom donations include the Boys & Girls Club, American Cancer Society and the Hope Lodge. The company previously supported other civil rights museums in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
“The employees of Paycom recognize the importance of preserving the history of Juneteenth and educating future generations with lasting stories of freedom,” Jennifer Kraszewski, the vice president of human resources at Paycom, said in a statement. “With this donation, we can help honor the endeavors of Ms. Opal Lee and other founding members of the museum.”
