IDEA Public Schools in Tarrant County is excited to welcome over 3,800 students for the upcoming 2023-24 school year at its eight schools across the area, serving Fort Worth and Haltom City. The first day of school for students is Monday, Aug. 7. 

New this year, IDEA Edgecliff College Prep, located in the far southwest area, welcomes its first ninth grade class, marking its first high school class in history. The campus opened in 2020 offering grades K-2 and sixth grade, adding a grade level each year until they are fully scaled, K-12 grade. 

This year, IDEA Edgecliff offers grade levels K-9. 

The graduating class of 2027 works to fulfill IDEA’s mission of going to and through college and will be the first IDEA Tarrant County campus to offer dual enrollment in partnership with TCC. Graduates of the program will earn college credit in the area of Programming and Software Development, formerly known as Cyber Security. 

“We are excited to welcome our first cohort of high school students at IDEA Edgecliff College Prep,” says Dionel Waters, area superintendent of IDEA Tarrant County. “Advancing in middle school education and stepping into high school is the nextstep in our mission of making sure every student has the opportunity to go to and through college. We look forward to continuing to support our scholars on their journey.” 

Additionally, IDEA Achieve will open its first hydroponic farm as an addition to its school farm this year. The hydroponicsystem shipping container will be used to further educate scholars in farm programming and provide year-round lettuce. The hydroponic farm is set to be completed by September 2023, more information to come.
