UMB Bank, a subsidiary of UMB Financial Corporation (Nasdaq: UMBF), is pleased to announce Eric Kelley as UMB’s new chief investment officer (CIO). Kelley has been serving as interim CIO since July 2023.
As CIO, Kelley will oversee the company’s private wealth management investment team, including
the newly created portfolio construction team, which identifies personalized investment
opportunities for clients. With Kelley’s direction, the investment team will continue to elevate its
offerings providing new investment opportunities, such as private investments, for clients.
“Since stepping in this summer, Eric has embraced this opportunity and proven to be an excellent fit
for the role,” said Nikki Newton, president of private wealth management at UMB. “His expertise
and experience, along with his ability to skillfully navigate and effectively manage different
customer and industry challenges, make him the ideal person for this role.”

Kelley has been with UMB for more than 25 years, serving as the head of investment research for
the past 12 years where he guided economic and investment research.
“As we continue to grow and evolve our team and offerings, Eric’s company history and
experience, as well as his ability to see where our industry and division is going, will be
instrumental in helping us achieve our goals—which will benefit both our team and our clients,”
adds Newton.
Kelley earned a master’s in business administration from Baker University and a bachelor’s degree
in marketing from the University of Kansas.
