Reflecting on the whirlwind that was April, I’m filled with gratitude and awe for all we have accomplished together at the Fort Worth Report. This month has been nothing short of remarkable.

One of the most recent highlights was the groundbreaking partnership between the Fort Worth Report and The Dallas Morning News — a historic news institution serving North Texas since 1885 and one of the largest newspapers in the state.

This collaboration will bring our in-depth local news coverage of Fort Worth and Tarrant County to the pages of The Dallas Morning News print edition, amplifying our reach and impact. It’s a testament to the quality and relevance of our journalism that such an institution recognizes the value of our work.

Speaking of recognition, our birthday celebration at Dickies Arena was our biggest yet. Surrounded by friends and neighbors, we gathered in the Fort Worth Cultural District to commemorate three years of community-centered journalism.

The energy in the room was palpable, a testament to our collective belief in journalism’s power to foster positive change and strengthen our communities in Tarrant County.

But the real cause for celebration goes beyond the festivities. In April, we exceeded 1,300 Fort Worth Report members, each committed to keeping our mission in Tarrant County alive. And on the weekend before the solar eclipse, we flew past the milestone of 50,000 newsletter subscribers — keep in mind we started from basically zero just three years ago.

Corresponding evidence of our rapidly growing reach can be found in the city’s recent community survey, which showed that residents now turn to us for Fort Worth news more often than to the 100-plus-year-old legacy newspaper.

That is a clear validation of the trust our community has placed in us, and it motivates us to continue delivering the high-quality, community-centered journalism you deserve.

As we look ahead, I’m filled with optimism and excitement for all that’s to come. There’s still work to be done. But with your unwavering support and the dedication of our talented team, there is no doubt that we will continue to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those we serve.
