Fort Worth ISD is still in the early stages of its more than $1.2 billion bond program.

The school board on March 26 received an update on the bond, which voters narrowly approved in 2021.

“Things are moving along very rapidly,” Libby Willis, chair of the bond’s citizens’ oversight committee, told trustees.

So far, about 6% of the funds have been spent.

The first completed project was the construction of Rolling Hills Elementary. The almost $58.8 million school serving Benbrook welcomed students Dec. 19

Rolling Hills Elementary is 119,843 square feet and has a capacity of up to 1,000 students, making it the largest elementary within Fort Worth ISD.

Currently, the only bond project under construction is the $60 million renovation of W.C. Stripling Middle School, according to program manager Procedeo. The school will see the construction of a three-story building addition, major renovations inside the existing campus and exterior improvements.

The bulk of bond construction projects are in the design phase. The planned renovations of two campuses, Daggett Middle School and M.L. Kirkpatrick Middle School, are about to begin, according to Procedeo.
